The different types of spine surgeries are as follows:
Atlantoaxial fixation surgery: This surgical procedure performed to provide stability, prevent neurological deficits and correct deformity. This instability occurs in bone (the atlas, C1, and the axis, C2) as well as in ligaments too can be rectified by performing Atlantoaxial fixation surgery. It is also known as pivot joint which is very helpful in the movement of head and neck. Flexion and extension of the neck involves an articulation in between C1 and C2. When the atlantoaxial instability occurs more often in between C1 and C2 then atlantoaxial fixation surgery is required.
Microdiscectomy or Microdecompression: Microdiscectomy is one of the most commonly performed Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and is very effective to get relief from leg pain which is caused due to radiculopathy, or sciatica.
Laminotomy or Spinal stenosis surgery: It is a spinal decompression surgery performed on the lamina of the spine. A part of the lamina is removed and a hole is carved to relieve pressure from the spine. The surgery is performed to correct those spine conditions which cause lamina to compress any nerve of the spinal cord.
Scoliosis and Kyphosis Surgery: This spinal surgery is performed to correct the posture of the curved spinal cord. When you look straight with curved spine then scoliosis treatment is required and when you look from side with cured spine then kyphosis treatment is required.
Cervical Decompression Surgery: This is an advanced spinal surgery which is performed to provide relief from the nerve compression occurs on the neck and spinal nerves. Patient suffering from compressed nerves in spine and neck are recommended for cervical decompression surgery.
Doctors Plus recommends Spine Surgery to the patients with spine degeneration or have injured spine. Spinal surgery is done to repair to set a solid spinal cord which is present at the back.
